Foundations of Faith A Brief History... Our church's heritage can be traced back
as far as 1908. At that time, a man of God
named Mr. Welch sought to serve the Lord by organizing and leading a Sunday
School, first in a private home and later in the first Silver Lake School. In 1919, Rev. O. H. King founded the Silver Lake Union Sunday School. Following several years of growth, "Brother King," as he was called, persuaded the local School Board to deed a schoolhouse and a small piece of property near Silver Lake to the Sunday School. On May 9, 1939, Articles of Incorporation for Silver Lake Union Sunday School were filed with the Office of the Secretary of State in Olympia.
In 1951, Silver Lake Union Church began a relationship with the Christian & Missionary Alliance. On June 25, 1957, the church's name was changed to "Silver Lake Community Church." In 1959 we became a fully- affiliated member church.
Silver Lake Community Church stepped out in faith with an expansion project in 1958, to build a new sanctuary. It was first used on December 17, 1960 to stage a Christmas program, and a formal dedication service was held on March 5, 1961.
In 1982,
Roland
Classen was called to pastor the church. Following a period of strategic
evaluation and planning, the congregation voted in December 1984 to relocate to
Seattle Hill Road. Changing our name to Mountain View Community Church,
construction began in 1985,
and the first worship service in our current facility was held on May 31, 1987.
In the years since, the congregation at Mountain View has grown and by God's grace has had a big impact on many lives.
